Best apps for businesses.
We thinking about which were the best apps for businesses and doing a blog about them (all as part of our content marketing strategy) but we struggling to think which were the actual best apps.
Then, in a light bulb moment we thought a) we are business and b) we use apps. So these are the apps for business that we use the most (in no particular order) –
- DropBox. Free file sharing with your customers or colleagues. Works on just about every platform. iPhone, iPad, desktop, web – so you can get to it virtually anywhere. It’s just like a directory on your laptop where you can create multiple sub directories say, for different clients. When you add a file to it, the people that you have given permission to access it get notified. It’s simple. Great app.
- Hootsuite. Again available on all platforms – this is a social media management tool that lets you manage multiple accounts so different clients Twitter accounts for example or for the individual or business you can have your Twitter, Facebook, Google +, LinkedIn and LinkedIn Company all connected so when you want to send out an update – you can send it to the lot in one go. Brilliant. Also brilliant is the “Autoschedule” feature which (it says will send out the update at the optimum time i.e. when most of your followers are online. Also loads of analytics on there to. Fremium model pricing.
- BlogPad Pro. WordPress blog owners – this one is for you. Connect your blog and it’ll let you add posts and edit posts and pages – all from your iPad. It’s the best “on the go” WordPress blog platform we’ve seen and used.
- The Daily Mash. Actually makes your business less productive but it’s great for downtime. A satirical news platform with daily posts such as “Ed Miliband to join the Scooby Doo Gang”, “Nurses to be trained in nursing” and “Flapjacks ‘gang weapon of choice'” – seriously funny.
- HSBC business banking app. Yes a bit corporate, but this is great for managing invoices, paying people, tracking cash flow and all that sort of thing right from your mobile. You can set up text messages when people pay you, have multiple businesses on there and even manage your employees credit cards. It does everything you need. Barclays et al may have similar ones. But we use this one a lot.
So there you go – business apps that we use a lot. They may not be the best but for a small digital agency based in Norwich we think they work just great.
