Business photos – what’s next?
Do we need to adjust our privacy settings?
In my last blog I introduced you to Google Business Photos.
So now you get to thinking where this could go next. And actually bearing in mind how Google like to do things then it seems pretty obvious that while a shopper is taking a virtual tour of your shop – that they should be able to zoom in on a shelf, then a product to find out more about it. This could be a hot spot tagged and loaded up by you.
Then via Google Merchant Centre there is no reason why they can’t buy it. This way they will have browsed, selected and bought without actually visiting your shop or even your website.
That’s how Google rolls – we’ve seen in the Google + Local.
There is no real problem with this because you’ve got the sale. What I feel might be a bit cheeky is if Google starts bringing in feeds of other products from other stores for the shopper to compare.
You’ve done all the hard work to get the customer on board – just for them to slide off to someone else because they can save a quid or two.
I don’t think that will make your average shop owner too pleased. But I can see this being justified on the basis of choice and relevance.
We’ll see – at the moment Google Business Photos looks like a great little idea.
